Teenies & Tweenies

The Teenie unit is for children aged between 18 months and 2 years. It consists of 1 large playroom and children's toilets.

This part of the nursery has a staff ratio of 1:3. Each child receives personal encouragement to become independent and develop their understanding of numbers, letters and also pencil control.

Each child has his/her own Learning Journal in which his/her personal development is recorded. This will include personal 'wow moments' and photos of his/ her development that his/her parents can view at any time.

Daily activities include: baking, art and craft, music and movement, construction, imaginative play and messy play (sand, water, flour and painting).

Areas are available for rest and sleep periods.

Plenty of outdoor play activities take place such as: football, climbing, beanbags and balancing activities.

The Tweenie unit is for children aged between 2 and 3 years. It consists of 2 playrooms and children's toilets.

This part of the nursery has a staff ratio of 1:4. Each child receives personal encouragement to become independent and develop their understanding of numbers, letters and also pencil control.

Toilet training is also encouraged at this stage and changing areas, potties and child toilet seats are all available.

The child's Learning Journal will have accompanied him/her when he/she moved up from the Teenie Unit to the Tweenie Unit. Therefore his/her new Room Leader and Key Worker and all Practitioners will be able to track his/her personal development to date. The Learning Journal forms the basis of a discussion between the Practitioners and the parents about the individual development of their child.
